Master’s Student Maritza Flores Marquez Wins Best Paper Award

Maritza MarquezCEE Master’s Student Maritza Flores Marquez was named a finalist for the 2018 Journal of Contemporary Water Research and Education (JCWRE) Paper of the Year Award.

Her paper -- “Water Budget Development for SGMA Compliance, Case Study: Ukiah Valley Groundwater Basin” -- was one of two papers chosen as a finalist.

This annual award recognizes an article published in the Journal of Contemporary Water Research and Education that is a significant contribution to the field of water resources research, policy and/or education. A committee of UCOWR Board members and JCWRE Associate Editors evaluate article excellence based on originality, clarity and application. 

Marquez found out she won the award on June 28 at the 2018 UCOWR/NIWR Annual Water Resources Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
